A space built by Muslim colleagues, for Muslim colleagues.
Open to every employee who identifies as Muslim — across every faculty, department, and campus.
An inclusive and welcoming space to connect, share experiences, celebrate Muslim identities, and belong.
The Muslim Employee Collective is an inclusive and welcoming space to connect, share experiences, celebrate Muslim identities, and foster a sense of belonging at the University of Waterloo. It provides opportunities for sharing resources, meaningful dialogue, and networking, and is open to collaboration with campus partners across UWaterloo and beyond.
Because the Collective is community-led, it grows and changes shape based on what the people in it need — this is a starting point, not a fixed program.
Who can join
- Anyone who identifies as Muslim and is a staff or faculty member at UWaterloo
- Colleagues across every faculty, department, and campus
- A community led by the people in it, not for them
What we do
Regular, low-pressure ways for Muslim employees to find each other and stay connected.
Social gatherings
Informal meetups, meals, and seasonal get-togethers that make it easy to put names to faces.
Community building
Ongoing activities that help colleagues from across the university form real, lasting connections.
Resource sharing
Practical information and pointers passed between colleagues who've navigated the same questions.
Learning & dialogue
